In Wiltshire, window design often reflects the period in which a building was constructed. Georgian properties typically feature balanced sash arrangements with fine glazing bars, while rural homes may use simpler casement styles with thicker sections and smaller panes.
Tailored Wood approaches each project by identifying these characteristics and translating them into the new joinery. Particular attention is given to:
- Glazing bar thickness and alignment
- Frame depth in relation to wall construction
- Sightlines and overall proportions
Where improved efficiency is required, we incorporate slim heritage double glazing, generally between 10 and 14mm thick, within solid-through glazing bar constructions. This allows the window to retain its traditional appearance while offering significantly better insulation.
