The architectural character of West Sussex is shaped by locally sourced materials and traditional construction methods, including knapped flint walls, red brick dressings, and clay tile roofs. Window designs vary accordingly, from refined sash windows in historic urban settings to simpler casements in rural cottages.
Tailored Wood produces bespoke joinery that responds directly to these variations. By analysing original windows, we replicate key features such as:
- Narrow glazing bar profiles typical of Georgian and early Victorian properties
- Traditional casement proportions found in vernacular buildings
- Period-specific mouldings and frame detailing
Where thermal upgrades are required, we incorporate slimline double glazing within solid-through glazing bars, typically 10 to 14mm thick, achieving U-Values between 1.4 and 1.9 while retaining traditional sightlines.
