Restoring sash windows and historic charm in Winchester

Sash Windows Restoration in Winchester

We are thrilled to announce our latest project: a prestigious building located in the heart of Winchester on Southgate Street. Nestled amidst the historic beauty of this vibrant city, stands a magnificent listed property awaiting our expert touch.

This Georgian building boasts a collection of box sash windows, each a testament to the craftsmanship of a bygone era. With around 25 windows, some bearing the marks of centuries past, including original features, our task is to breathe new life into these architectural treasures.

Our meticulous process begins with disassembling each window into its individual components, treating them with the utmost care and attention. From sanding and preparing the timber to addressing any signs of rot and executing intricate timber repairs as needed, our craftsmen spare no effort in restoring these windows to their former glory.

Once the timber is primed and ready, we embark on the decoration. Layering three coats of paint, we revive the windows’ aesthetic allure., ensuring that every component  is crisp and well protected.

But our commitment to restoration doesn’t end there. We understand the importance of functionality as well as beauty. Therefore, we meticulously rebuild each window, replacing worn-out chords and rebalancing weights to ensure smooth operation. New staff and parting beads are installed, completing the process.

Through our comprehensive restoration process, we aim not only to protect these windows for the future but also to enhance the property’s aesthetic appeal. Each window tells a story, and it is our privilege to preserve and honour Winchester’s rich architectural heritage.

Stay tuned for updates as we embark on this exciting restoration project on Southgate Street.

Together, we will safeguard the legacy of our past while embracing the promise of the future.
