Preserving Prestige with Casement Windows replacements

Casement Windows Case Study

Introduction

At Tailored Wood, we had the privilege of working with Ms M, a discerning homeowner who sought to uphold the elegance and integrity of her newly acquired property in Highcliffe, Southampton. Situated within the prestigious Collins development, Ms M’s house demanded a restoration approach marked by sensitivity and precision.

The Collins development, renowned for its architectural significance, presents a unique challenge when it comes to replacement windows. With a commitment to preserving the estate’s heritage, alongside its designation as a conservation area by the local council, any alterations require careful consideration and meticulous execution.

The Project

Tasked with replacing the original casement windows, which had succumbed to rot and drafts over time, we understood the importance of maintaining the estate’s aesthetic integrity. Our goal was to design and manufacture like-for-like windows that seamlessly blended with the unique characteristics of the Collins home estate.

One of the challenges we faced was the presence of unusual design characteristics in the original windows. From pegged structural joints to distinct profiles and internal moulds, each window bore the hallmark of the Collins development’s architectural heritage.

The Process

Our team rose to the occasion, meticulously replicating every detail to ensure a seamless transition from old to new. Through careful craftsmanship and attention to detail, we recreated the windows with precision, preserving the estate’s charm while enhancing thermal efficiency and functionality.

The successful replacement of all the windows in Ms M’s house was met with widespread acclaim from all parties involved. Our replication was hailed as a testament to our dedication to excellence, providing our client with not only reduced drafts but also enhanced thermal efficiency and aesthetic appeal.

Conclusion

As custodians of architectural heritage, we take immense pride in our role in preserving the prestige of properties like Ms M’s. If you have a restoration project that demands the utmost sensitivity and expertise, Tailored Wood is here to bring your vision to life with unparalleled craftsmanship and attention to detail.

Together, let’s ensure that the legacy of our architectural treasures continues to inspire and delight for generations to come.

We had replacement sash windows made for an Edwardian property and Joel and the team did a great job. The advice they gave initially was spot on and Joel knew the local period style. There was no pushy salesperson. I went and had a look in the workshop and was shown finished windows and the process of making them was explained. The windows were installed on time by a professional team, who were a pleasure to work with. Our builders even commented on the quality of the work. The windows look excellent and we have had a lot of positive feedback. Well worth the money.
