Replacing Casement Windows in Lyndhurst Hampshire by Tailored Wood Salisbury

Restoring Elegance at Northerwood House

Casement Windows Case Study

Introduction

At Tailored Wood, we had the privilege of collaborating with Mr. and Mrs. T, esteemed residents of Northerwood House, a historic local landmark nestled in the scenic beauty of the New Forest National Park. Once a sprawling privately owned estate, Northerwood House has been transformed into luxury apartments, each a testament to the grandeur of its past.

Situated amidst nine acres of mature gardens, Northerwood House offers breathtaking elevated views of the surrounding area, making it a coveted residential destination. When Mr. and Mrs. T approached us to replace the casement windows in their lovely apartment, we understood the importance of preserving the estate’s historic charm while enhancing modern comfort and functionality.

The Project

Tasked with designing, manufacturing, and installing like-for-like casement window replacements, our goal was to provide Mr. and Mrs. T with warm, draft-free living spaces without compromising the integrity of Northerwood House’s architectural heritage.

The project presented its own set of challenges, as the existing windows comprised a combination of different designs and window types. However, our team rose to the occasion, leveraging our expertise and craftsmanship to seamlessly integrate modern functionality with timeless elegance.

The Process

Through meticulous design and precision engineering, we crafted bespoke casement windows that not only complemented the aesthetic of Northerwood House but also enhanced the overall living experience for Mr. and Mrs. T. From improved thermal insulation to smoother operation, the final result exceeded expectations, providing our clients with the comfort and luxury they deserve.

Conclusion

The successful replacement of the casement windows in Mr. and Mrs. T’s apartment is a testament to our commitment to excellence and our dedication to preserving the historic character of Northerwood House. As custodians of architectural heritage, we take immense pride in our role in enhancing the living spaces of such prestigious properties.

We needed restoration work as well as complete replacements for some sash windows, and I have to say I now can’t tell which is which. Many of the period details had been removed from the building by previous owners but with the help of Joel and his team we managed to restore the soul of my home. From start to finish such care and attention goes into their work it was a joy to work with them.

After meeting with Joel, his personable approach, and excellent advice and ideas, were our reasons for choosing Joel and his team to make and fit our windows. The windows have transformed the front of our house. The craftsmanship is excellent and the attention to detail regarding decorating and finish is second to none. The after-service was excellent.

We’re now getting Joel and his team back to install a skylight. Thank you to Tailored Wood. Highly recommended.

We had replacement sash windows made for an Edwardian property and Joel and the team did a great job. The advice they gave initially was spot on and Joel knew the local period style. There was no pushy salesperson. I went and had a look in the workshop and was shown finished windows and the process of making them was explained. The windows were installed on time by a professional team, who were a pleasure to work with. Our builders even commented on the quality of the work. The windows look excellent and we have had a lot of positive feedback. Well worth the money.
