Background
Tailored Wood recently completed a large-scale project in the Bath and Bristol area for a social housing provider, involving the refurbishment, restoration, and replacement of approximately 300 sash and casement timber windows across several residential properties that were all Grade 1 or 2 listed buildings.
The works comprised a combination of sensitive restoration and full replacements, all undertaken in accordance with conservation requirements, as many of the buildings were located in heritage-sensitive areas.
Key Challenges
• Coordinating a large, multi-site programme across two cities
• Balancing conservation requirements with the performance standards expected in social housing
• Minimising disruption to residents
• Meeting tight deadlines within occupied properties
What We Delivered
• Bespoke timber windows incorporating slimline heritage double glazing
• Designs that faithfully replicate original joinery details on a like-for-like basis.
• Durable hardwoods (e.g. Sapele), fully factory-finished for long life and reduced maintenance
• A phased installation programme to ensure a smooth and efficient process for both the client and residents
